Welcome to the New Haven Mayor's Office
Dear Friends

Earlier today, I held a press conference to announce the completion of public improvements within the River Street Municipal Development Plan as well as the next phase of development in this area. Development in this area provides for business expansion and the potential for the creation of multiple new jobs, all moving forward despite a challenging economic climate. This effort was led by the Office of Economic Development and truly reflects the partnership between the City, the State of Connecticut, the Federal government and the private sector.

Here’s what else is happening in New Haven:

Launch of Union Station-Downtown Shuttle

On Wednesday, September 16th at 10 a.m., I will be celebrating enhancements to the free weekday shuttle that connects rail passengers using Union Station off-site parking locations, including the Temple Street Garage and the parking lot at the former Coliseum site. All shuttle trips will now extend to the New Haven Green and will operate every 20 minutes from 6:10 a.m. to 10:15 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Puerto Rican Flag Raising and Parade

On Wednesday, September 16th at 12:30 p.m., I will be attending the Puerto Rican Flag Raising on the Green to kick-off Hispanic Heritage Month. On Sunday, the festivities will continue as the Puerto Rican Parade begins on Chapel St. and Derby Ave. at 1 p.m.

Here’s what’s happening in the New Haven Free Public Library:

Homework Help at Stetson Library

From 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday, visit the Homework Help Center at the Stetson Branch for help improving study habits, solving math problems, language arts and science skills.

Tai-Chi at the Main Branch

You are invited to explore the ancient practice of Tai Chi at a special six-week class series on the Terrace overlooking Elm Street outside the Transition Center on the first floor of the Main Branch. Kathleen Brenner who has studied Tai Chi for 20 years will be the instructor. Free and open to the public rain or shine! Space is limited so please register for series at www.taichifall.eventbrite.com or call 946-8835.

Senior Movies at Fair Haven

On Wednesdays at 1 p.m., seniors are invited to the Fair Haven Branch to enjoy weekly movies!
